The tree in the park
stands and holds conference
with the breeze in the dark
When you see the leaves move
you believe the tree enjoys the wind
but at night
when the branches wince and weave
they breathe with doubt
difficult choices made and unmade
in a flux of woven tickets
admission intermission
extraction and division
final stages now evident
the space in which we look
at each other
hoping
to explain the night
the pages they rent
burnt memory vapour
the pictures they wrought
mercury flash death
